Derek Scrimgeour has spent the last 14 years farming his flock of Swaledale sheep on the rugged Cumbrian fell in Northern England. With hundreds of sheep grazing on miles of steep, rocky land Derek relies heavily on a team of capable and talented dogs to gather the sheep throughout the year.



In this video Derek demonstrates his techniques for training the Killibrae, his strain of border collie. He shares his techniques for training a dog to flank, lie down, outrun, drive, shed and go back - all the skills that a dog needs to work effectively on the hill.



In the past five years, Derek has represented England with four dogs at the International Sheepdog Trials.
